PIPO Policy Procedures Updated 12/5/2014

Purpose

This committee provides information to the public, the medical profession and other groups that work with compulsive eaters by attending health fairs, distributing public service announcements, putting meeting information in external media, hosting sessions for medical professionals, counselors, clergy and other special interest groups interested in a solution to the disease of compulsive eating. Document Purpose

This document is designed for and by the Triangle OA Intergroup's Public Information / Professional Outreach committee and describes the policies and procedures past members used.

Information relevant to all committees and committee chairs is in the Triangle Intergroup Bylaws. It is recommended that all committee chairs review committee information in the bylaws at the beginning of their terms to understand basic Intergroup committee policy for budgets, authority, and responsibilities. Budget

The PIPO budget has been used to purchase a banner and flyers from OA World Service that are distributed to the public. Some of the places flyers have been distributed to include {To be Completed by Scott / Mickelle / Harriet }

  1. Go to http://www.indyweek.com/
  2. Hover over "Ads & Classified's."
  3. choose "Free Classified's" from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click on "Post Your Free Ad."
  5. For Placement, choose "Post your ad online."
  6. For Categories, choose "Health & Wellbeing."
  7. For Subcategories, choose "Groups."
  8. Click on "Next Step." Enter a Headline ("Overeaters Anonymous Helps!" or similar wording is good).
  9. Enter our Ad Text. Copy and paste the text below or type similar wording:

  11. Choose the free web link and add our website (www.triangleoa.org).
  12. Choose the free email link and add the P. I. P. O. email address (pipo@triangleoa.org).
  13. Scroll down further and you can add up to six images for free.
  14. There are several appropriate ones you can get from www.oa.org (OA logos, PSA stills, etc). Ask the outgoing Chair if he/she has some they can send, or find your own appropriate images.

  15. click "Next Step." Your total cost should be $0.00.
  16. Click "Post Ad."
  17. You may have to create an account to post. If so, just use pipo@triangleoa.org as the email and make up a password.
